What you will be doing

The Risk Manger is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, executing, and overseeing all onboarding and credit underwriting and/or merchant risk operations in the organization. The role will ensure continued development and maintenance of a strong risk framework to effectively manage risk, comply with mandates, and apply industry best practices in all functions. In this role, the Risk Manger will help drive process and system improvements to meet the current and future needs of the organization. This role will be responsible for managing and supervising personnel.

What you bring:

  • Build, develop, mentor, and retain high performing team members in support of risk functions.

  • Identify, recommend, and implement new processes or workflows that improve and streamline organizational processes.

  • Carry out effective trainings to new hires and existing employees.

  • Communicate with the sales organization and other business units regarding the implementation and coordination of risk mitigating strategies.

  • Ensure a balanced risk review approach consistent with company objectives.

  • Resolve escalated issues or escalate to mgt. as needed while making recommendations.

  • Enforce all company risk facing polices (Credit, AML, Risk Monitoring, other).

  • Interact with sales associates, relationship managers, partners, and clients, providing first class service. Collaborate cross functionally to help grow portfolio while mitigating risks.

  • Participate and present in internal and external audits.

  • Apply use of approval authority on daily routines or make appropriate recommendations to higher authorities.

  • Analyze reporting data and promptly report issues to higher management.

  • Participate in Risk Management Committee functions from time to time.

  • Conduct periodic reviews of platform and merchant relationships.

  • Maintain knowledge of emerging trends and technologies in risk management.

  • Report or help report on relevant operating and portfolio metrics and retain knowledge of same.

  • Identify and research trends or patterns in the platform and merchant book of business and report on trends or metrics that fall outside the company's risk tolerance.

  • Ensure merchants and platforms in portfolio remain in compliance with Card Brand rules, Regulatory Rules, and Sponsor Bank rules.

  • Support system or process creation and implementation for improvement.

  • Other duties, projects, and tasks, as assigned on an ongoing basis.

Added bonus if you have:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience within a Risk or Underwriting function.

  • Previous supervisory or lead role experience within an Underwriting or Risk Management role.

  • Able to apply credit and risk principles toward business objectives.

  • Strong understanding of commercial and consumer lending principles.

  • Strong understanding and dissemination of financial statements.

  • Strong understanding of bureau information, score calculation, score attributes and validations.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Client service mentality.

  • Superior analytical abilities.

  • Ability to quickly learn/grasp new ideas and concepts.

  • Detail oriented and reliable-must be able to take instruction but function independently.

  • High level of organizational skills with the ability to multitask.

  • Ability to work at a rapid pace and meet deadlines.

  • Experience communicating with management teams at all levels.

  • Initiative and creativity with a passion to deliver results.

  • Degree in a quantitative discipline (i.e. finance, accounting, economics) preferred.

  • Merchant Services or Payment industry experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of Visa/Master Card rules and regulations preferred.

FIS is committed to providing its employees with an exciting career opportunity and competitive compensation. The pay range for this full-time position is $94,560.00 - $158,870.00 and reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position based on the posted role, level, and location. Within the range, actual individual starting pay is determined additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Any changes in work location will also impact actual individual starting pay. Please consult with your recruiter about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
